Carers hit by government reforms to disability benefits said today that David Cameron should keep away from the Paralympic Games.
The PM will attend many of the events free of charge but carers say his appearance is "hypocritical" and "two-faced" given his party's welfare reforms that put disabled people through "fit for work" assessments.
Carer Pat Onions, whose petition against the reforms has over 43,000 signatures, said: "For Cameron to go to the events and pat himself on the back and say 'how well we've all done' is so two-faced.
"His presence there is as welcome as the school bully turning up to your wedding."
Mrs Onions - who is blind herself - cares for her husband David who was injured in the Falklands war.
Clive Arnold, who cares for his disabled wife, said: "Cameron should do the decent thing and not attend the Paralympics.
"The fact that Atos will be sponsoring the Paralympics is bad enough but to have the man that has betrayed disabled people and their carers is the icing on the cake.
"As usual Cameron will ignore the wishes of disabled people and carers because the main thing is that he gets his ugly mug in front of the media regardless of how hypocritical he is being.
"The coalition without a mandate is destroying the lives and minds of the most vulnerable in our society."
