The Swiss maestro simply had too much for his opponent on his way to his 10th semi-final in the competition and remains unbeaten as he bids to retain the title he won last year.

Meanwhile despite his defeat at the hands of Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray has it all to play for when he takes on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga tomorrow night.

The Frenchman’s loss to Tomas Berdych last night threw Group A wide open and a straight-sets victory for Murray over his opponent would see him through.

The contest could prove a tricky one though, with Tsonga keen to avenge his Wimbledon semi-final defeat at the hands of the British number one.

In tomorrow's afternoon session, Djokovic takes on Berdych knowing that if he wins a single set in the contest, he will qualify for the final four.
