G4S ditched by Oslo over Israel links

Wednesday 12 December 2012

British security firm G4S was dealt a blow by Norwegian students today who convinced the University of Oslo to dump the firm over its continued involvement in Israel's occupation of Palestine.

Palestine solidarity activists called it "a major success."

G4S has been targeted because of its activities in Israel and the Occupied Territories, including providing security materials and complicity in imprisonments.

Oslo students began their campaign against G4S in August and the university says it won't renew the firm's contract when it expires next July.

No excuse for drone killings

Foreign Minister Alistair Burt's admission that the Cameron government has "supported" a survey of attitudes to US drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal areas amounts to a tacit admission of British involvement.
