Swansea 2 Arsenal 2: Danny Graham strikes late to earn Swans replay

The striker scored in the 87th minute, blasting the ball into the roof of the net from close range, to set up a replay at Ashburton Grove on January 16.

The Swans had taken the lead through substitute Michu, the Spaniard firing under Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny within seconds of coming on.

The Gunners soon hit back though Lukas Podolski before full-back Kieran Gibbs gave the Londoners the lead with a spectacular volley.

Arsene Wenger’s men had less than 10 minutes to hold on to their advantage but could not do so as Graham ensured the clash entered a second chapter.

Wenger, whose side will travel to Brighton if they overcome the Swans in the reply, was unhappy that his side were not awarded a penalty when the game was still goalless.

Aaron Ramsey raced on to Olivier Giroud’s through ball and Swansea right-back Dwight Tiendalli appeared to clip the Arsenal man’s heels.

“It was a penalty and the referee saw it,” he said. “Do you know why he did not give it? Because he thought the guy had not done it on purpose, and I also think it was accidental. But he (Ramsey) did not trip himself, he was caught clearly by the leg of the Swansea player. The referee hesitated and he did not give it.”

Elsewhere Liverpool edged past Mansfield Town at Field Mill.

New Reds signing Daniel Sturridge gave the Premier League giants the lead after seven minutes before Luis Suarez doubled the visitors’ advantage in controversial fashion.

On 59 minutes the Uruguayan appeared to control the ball with his hand before tapping into an empty net.

Matt Green scored late for the Stags, who repeatedly put visiting keeper Brad Jones under great pressure with aerial balls into the box, but Liverpool held on to set up a trip to Oldham in the fourth round.
