Police round up members of Ankara suicide bomb group

EmailTurkish police today rounded up dozens of suspected members of an ultra-left group that claimed responsibility for a suicide attack on the US embassy in Ankara on February 1.
It was the second action against the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C).
Police issued warrants for 167 people in 28 provinces.
Anti-terror squads arrested 15 people in the coastal province of Izmir and two other provinces in operations targeting a group called the Revolutionary Civil Servant Movement, believed to be linked to the DHKP-C.
The DHKP-C has claimed responsibility for assassinations and bombings since the 1970s but had been relatively quiet recently.
In the February 1 attack a DHKP-C member killed himself and a security guard.
The attack followed the detention of dozens of people in raids targeting people linked to the DHKP-C in January.
