In an age where dubstep is all the rage this jazz-fusion collective from Ethiopia have taken an opportune moment to get back to the original Trojan-style rugged and raw dub sound.
They do it by dubbing up their first two LPs and firing them back into the ether.
The results are quite remarkable, with hazy King Tubby-style echo effects, laid back jazzy rhythms and hallucinatory soundscapes, occasionally reminiscent of Sun Ra and his Intergalactic Arkestra, that don't quite sound from this planet.
When dub's produced right, it can place the listener in an almost meditative state. Dub Me Tender achieves this, helped in no small part by its jazz undertones.
Highly recommended, even to purists and the four unreleased tracks This Is Not A Dub Song, Living In The Dub Of The Common People, It's Friday I'm In Dub and What Time Is Dub? also offer something new.
