CANELO ALVAREZ won his rematch with Gennady Golovkin last night by majority decision, muddying the waters further.
In their previous bout, ruled a split draw, the majority of fans and pundits scored the contest in favour of Golovkin or close either way, but highly controversial judge Adelaide Bird scored widely in favour of Canelo.
This time around, despite lots at ringside scoring the contest for Golovkin again, the Mexican won by narrow margins of 113-115, 114-114 and 113-115.
Canelo came out aggressively to the surprise of most, marching forward while Golovkin attempted to score potshots with the jab. As the fight went on, each man had their share of centre ring.
This incredible display of physicality, skill and toughness from both fighters is boxing in its highest form, we can almost definitely expect a third bout.
On the undercard, Cork fighter Spike O’Sullivan was brutally knocked out in the first round by Canadian puncher David Lemieux, who threw a spectacular counter left hook to floor the Irishman.
Former pound-for-pound king Roman Gonzalez returned to winning ways with a destruction of Moises Fuentes who was wiped out in the fifth round when the Nicaraguan let a hellish two-punch combination lose.
Also on the card, 21-year-old Mexican Jaime Munguia defended his WBO Super Welterweight world title with a third round TKO of Brandon Cook.
