Banned Corbyn film to be screened in Prime Minister's own backyard

A BANNED film exposing the “conspiracy of forces” which targeted former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is to be shown in Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s constituency of Richmond in North Yorkshire.

The screening of the film Oh Jeremy Corbyn — The Big Lie, which will be held in a venue next door to the town’s Conservative Club, is among more than 100 which have taken place across Britain since it launched in February.

Organiser Mike Jinks said that the screening is “going to be an eye-opener not just for Rishi Sunak, but for large parts of the entire political Establishment.”

“They thought they’d buried Corbyn and Corbynism,” he said.

“But just the fact that the film is being screened here in Richmond suggests they may have got things badly wrong — that Corbynism may be on the rise again.”

As reported in the weekend’s Morning Star, 70,000 people have signed a petition demanding that the Labour whip be restored to Mr Corbyn.

The film’s producer Norman Thomas said more screenings are being organised far into summer, despite Labour Party bosses warning members against seeing it and bans on the film at some events, including the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival in Dorset in July.

Mr Thomas believes both major parties are horrified at even the slightest possibility of a revival of Corbynism and the huge rallies and mobilisations which greeted him when he was Labour leader.

The Richmond showing is at 2pm on Sunday June 25, at community and music venue The Comrades Club.
