Mick Lynch elected as new RMT general secretary

MICK LYNCH was elected as RMT’s new general secretary today, succeeding Mick Cash.

Mr Lynch, formerly RMT’s assistant general secretary, said: “I am greatly honoured. I will build our union’s membership, influence and power.

“Our message to employers is that RMT stands ready to fight against pay freezes, cuts to safety and conditions.”

Congratulating Mr Lynch, Mr Cash said: “It is crucial that the whole union now unites behind Mick Lynch and gives him the support that he will need as RMT focuses on delivering ‎for our members in [the] tough days ahead.”
