THE TSSA union has said it is a “full and willing participant” into the independent inquiry into allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination and bullying within the union and its leadership.
Helena Kennedy KC, a Labour peer, is interviewing current and former union officials following advice from the TUC.
Claims include former TSSA organiser Claire Laycock allegedly being harassed by general secretary Manuel Cortes in a pub after a Christmas party in 2018.
A video posted online by Ms Laycock claimed her boss had asked her to kiss him and had invited her to “go outside.”
TUC general secretary Frances O’Grady said: “Sexual harassment is not acceptable in any workplace.
“And it must not be tolerated within the union movement.
“It is absolutely right that there is an independent investigation.
“We must prevent and stop sexual harassment, whenever and wherever it happens.”
TSSA said in a statement: “TSSA is committed to winning our staff and members’ confidence, righting any wrongs, and learning lessons through this process.”
