MEN’S BOXING: Chris Eubank Jr announced today that he has activated his rematch clause to face Liam Smith again.

The 33-year-old was beaten by Smith in their middleweight grudge match in Manchester last month, which was overshadowed by unpleasant exchanges during the final pre-fight press conference.

After being backed into the corner in the fourth round, Eubank managed to get back up from a left uppercut and hook combination but went back down again when Smith landed a right-hand shot.

Referee Victor Loughlin stepped in to stop the fight, handing Smith a fourth straight win, but Eubank confirmed on Twitter that he wants the rematch.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Wycombe defender Alfie Mawson has announced his retirement because of a knee problem.

The 29-year-old played in the Premier League for Swansea and Fulham and was called up once by England in 2018 but has been increasingly troubled by knee pain.

Mawson first made his mark on loan at Wycombe from Brentford in 2014-15 and rejoined the Chairboys last summer, with his final appearance coming against Ipswich in December.

Wycombe will celebrate Mawson’s career when the Blues take on his former club Barnsley at Adams Park on March 18.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Kyle Sinckler’s availability for England’s Six Nations clash with Wales in 10 days’ time has been thrown into doubt by a facial injury.

Sinckler has been omitted from a 26-man squad that will take part in a three-day training camp in London this week, though he will be present to receive treatment from England’s medics.

The Bristol prop departed as a blood replacement in the 50th minute of Saturday’s 31-14 victory over Italy and was unable to return, resulting in Dan Cole finishing the game at tight-head.

Sinckler impressed against Scotland and Italy, and it will be hoped he can recover in time for the trip to Cardiff.
