TEENAGE spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman and uncapped duo Grace Potts and Ellie Threlkeld have been named in England’s squad for their historic women’s Test against India at Lord’s next month.
Corteen-Coleman has made three white-ball appearances in recent weeks since being a surprise squad pick at the ongoing T20 World Cup, and the 18-year-old has now been awarded a maiden Test call-up.
Seamer Potts and wicketkeeper Threlkeld have also been selected in a 15-strong squad for England’s first-ever women’s Test at the home of cricket from July 10-13, starting five days after the T20 World Cup final at the same venue.
All-rounders Alice Capsey and Mady Villiers will be bidding for a Test debut, while fast bowler Issy Wong and top-order batter Emma Lamb have been recalled after missing out in England’s last match in whites in the 2025 Women’s Ashes in Melbourne.
Middle-order batters Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, both of whom are in England’s T20 World Cup squad, have been left out, with Nat Sciver-Brunt set to captain the side.
Spinner Charlie Dean, who is set to deputise as captain for England’s next two T20 World Cup games with Sciver-Brunt suffering a recurrence of a calf injury, has also been overlooked.
England have not staged a women’s Test since the 2023 Ashes, while their last outing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground ended with a demoralising innings defeat as Australia sealed a 16-0 clean sweep.
Clare Connor, the England and Wales Cricket Board’s managing director of women’s cricket, said: “We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord’s for women’s cricket.
“Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women’s game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format.
“For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord’s, it will be a moment to savour.”
