Poetry on the Picket Lines Five Cartons A Day

The lads from the terraces are looking for allies
In their fight to defend British culture.
Except that they are not lads,
There is no more terracing,
And the culture has moved on.
Most of us welcome that and, much as
We regret how top notch nosh comes
At the expense of fancy pricing, with
The loss of much loved pubs and other
Purveyors of more prosaic provender,
We recognise that variety is the spice of life.
So, a bit like quality tailoring not displayed
To its full advantage, the idea that the proper way
To preserve our heritage is to exclude diversity
Wasn’t ever a good look.
Few things are at their best in aspic.
Never did go much on jellied eels.

NOT all football fans are half-wide mugs. Not all half-wide mugs are football fans. This we know, despite the efforts of a misguided minority. The fine work by the good people at Clapton Orient CFC have proved that, with their very successful release of a new away kit, the red, purple and yellow shirt inspired by the International Brigades. No Pasaran!
