Glenrothes workers announce 12-week strike

HUNDREDS of workers fighting pay cuts at Bosch Rexroth have announced a 12-week strike.

The Bosch subsidiary has seen its post-tax profits grow by more than 28 per cent since 2022 to £12.4 million, while its highest-paid director has received a whopping 63 per cent pay boost to £313,000 over the same period.

But engineers at its Glenrothes plant have been offered a mere 1.25 per cent increase in pay.

Rejecting that real-terms pay cut, Unite members at the site voted overwhelming to strike for 12 weeks from May 20.

Unite officer George Ramsay said: “Twelve weeks of continuous strike action is now on the immediate horizon and Bosch Rexroth have nobody to blame but themselves for this situation.

“The company have a few short weeks to make our members an acceptable and fair pay offer before strike action begins.

“But the message from our members is loud and clear: they will not accept low pay offers from a company that is coining it in.

“The ball is now in management’s court.”

A Bosch Rexroth spokesperson said: “Discussions are ongoing with associates and Unite representatives, as Rexroth continues to seek a fair deal for all.“
