Picket lines The Internet

The Internet
Everyone's alone
With you

THIS poem relates to the isolation people pick rather than look up from the glowing screen that burns your eyes. Politically, I think it's easier to manipulate with a digital platform, particularly the children I work with who have a very narrow understanding of their country. Trump is always the number one super-villain and, with almost no knowledge of the system, they're kept plugged in and filled with all kinds of sinister information. Isolation is the biggest threat to intelligence when it's powered by plastic forces and the young are in the firing line. Of course, they should fear Trump but also know who their bleating goat leader is and why.

Poetry on the Picket Line is a squad of like-minded poets putting themselves about to read their work on picket lines, in the spirit of solidarity. Invitations to rallies etc. welcome, contact facebook.com/pg/PicketLinePoets
