Sadiq Khan mocks Donald Trump during London Eid festivities

SADIQ KHAN mocked former US president Donald Trump on Saturday as the Mayor of London addressed crowds celebrating Eid in Trafalgar Square.

Mr Khan told cheering onlookers: “I’m going to take a selfie and send it to a good friend of mine, Donald Trump.

“I’m going to say listen, ‘bruv,’ this is how we run in — I’m going to show him that our diversity is a strength not a weakness.”

Mr Khan took selfies with attendees during the free event, hosted by British comedian Ola Labib and Capital Xtra DJ Yasser Ranjha on Saturday.

The 19th annual Eid in the Square festival marked the end of Ramadan, Islam’s holy month of fasting.

Mr Khan and Mr Trump have been engaged in a long-running political feud, the mayor having called the then president’s views on Islam “ignorant” in 2016.

The Mayor of London organised Saturday’s event with London-based Muslim organisations and the Eid Community Advisory Group, to bring together communities, friends and families to celebrate.
