Sheffield tram workers walk out for three days

WORKERS on Sheffield’s trams are walking out for three days from today after rejecting a three-year pay deal worth just 26p an hour.

Trams union Unite accused management of waging a “propaganda war” against the 200 drivers and conductors because the walkout will hit a music festival in the city this weekend.

The workers have already staged a 48-hour stoppage.

Pouring scorn on the “shoddy pay offer,” Unite regional co-ordinating officer Steve Clark said: “The bosses at South Yorkshire Supertram have had plenty of time to come to the table to negotiate a fair settlement since the two days of strike action on July 9  and 12, but have chosen not to.”
