BOXING: Mexico’s Gilberto Ramirez defended his WBA and WBO cruiserweight belts with a unanimous decision over Yuniel Dorticos in Anaheim, California on Sunday morning. 

The bout preceded Jake Paul’s dismal, one-sided points win over former WBC welterweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez junior. 

In Wichita, former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder knocked out Tyrell Herndon in the seventh round of their non-title fight.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Siddal beat West Hull 32-16 in Saturday’s top of the table National Conference clash to leap-frog their opponents on points difference with a game in hand. 

Third-placed West Bowling romped to a 41-0 win at York Acorn, Wath Brow edged out Lock Lane 6-4, Hunslet thumped Leigh Miners 62-0, Thatto Heath saw off Rochdale Mayfield 40-16 and Waterhead won 32-22 at bottom club Dewsbury Moor.

MEN’S CRICKET: Prabath Jayasuriya took 5-56 as Sri Lanka skittled Bangladesh for 133 in their second innings and cruised to victory by an innings and 78 runs in Colombo on Saturday. 

Sri Lanka won the two-match Test series 1-0 after their opening draw in Galle. The teams next play a series of three one-day and three Twenty20 matches. 

Sri Lanka are currently ranked as the world’s fourth-best one-day team, six places above Bangladesh.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: 32-year-old World Cup winner Paul Pogba has signed a two-year contract with Monaco following his 18-month ban for doping. 

Pogba has won 91 caps for France, four Serie A titles with Juventus, as well as the FA Cup and Europa League at Manchester United. 

He was found to have elevated levels of testosterone in a random drug test taken after Juventus’ first game of the 2023-24 season.
