MEN’S FOOTBALL: Patrick Vieira has left his role as Strasbourg manager after only one season.
Vieira was hired by the Ligue 1 club last July after they had been taken over by Chelsea’s ownership group.
Former Arsenal captain Vieira was able to lead Strasbourg to 13th in the table and into the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, but has exited by mutual agreement only one season into a three-year deal.
MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: It’s fourth against second as Super League action resumes this evening with St Helens hosting Warrington.
Leigh Leopards take on bottom club London Broncos and Huddersfield play Salford in tonight’s other fixtures.
League leaders Wigan, who are four points clear at the top with a game in hand, are not in action until Saturday when they travel to struggling Hull FC.
MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Bradman Best and Mitchell Moses crossed for tries as New South Wales beat Queensland 14-4 in Brisbane on Wednesday to win the State of Origin series 2-1.
Queensland had romped to a 38-10 win in the first leg before New South Wales hit back with a 38-18 victory in game two.
New South Wales back-rower Angus Crichton won the Wally Lewis medal for player of the series.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Llay Miners Welfare kick off the Welsh League Cup first round this evening when they welcome Denbigh Town to the Ring.
Flint Mountain host Gresford Athletic, Merthyr Town are at Taff’s Well, Ruthin Town host Bangor 1876 and Cardiff’s Under 21s travel to Afan Lido in tonight’s other games.
Newport County are at Llandudno tomorrow.
