Thousands to take part in Workplace Day of Action for Palestine

THOUSANDS of workers and students will stage actions at workplaces and colleges tomorrow to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and that Britain stops arming Israel.

Actions will range from lunchtime rallies, walkouts and silences, to stalls and bake sales, and will take place across the country including in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle and London.

Chris Nineham, vice-chair of Stop the War Coalition, which is helping organise some of the actions, said: “This Thursday workers up and down the country will again be taking action in their workplaces to protest [against] our government’s continued support for Israel as it expands its assaults in the Middle East and intensifies the genocide in Gaza and assaults on Palestinians in the West Bank.

“We must break the silence on Palestine in workplaces and the TUC’s support shows that the trade union movement nationally is swinging behind workplace action in order to force the government to stop colluding in genocide.”

The list of actions can be seen here.
