VIGILS were held across Turkey yesterday as opposition politicians joined survivors vowing to continue the fight for justice for the 33 people killed in a bomb blast in the border town of Suruc three years ago.
People's Democratic Party (HDP) officials were among those present at a memorial service at the Amara Cultural Centre where the suicide bomber struck in July 2015.
The bomb exploded as around 300 young people gathered at a press conference organised by the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) as they prepared to take toys and humanitarian aid to the people of Kobane, the Syrian city held under siege by Isis for months.
More than 100 people were injured and 33 killed as suicide bomber Abdurrahman Alagoz blew himself up. However there have been allegations of a cover-up since the blast with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan using the attacks as a pretext for the arrests of HDP and SGDF members.
Survivors continue to gather in the Kadikoy district of Istanbul on the 20th of each month to demand justice.
