Men's Football Zinchenko on his way to Wolves

Newly promoted Wolves have already started to acquire Premier League-quality players after Manchester City accepted a £16 million bid for attacking midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Ukrainian international has only made eight appearances for City since joining from Russian side Ufa in 2016 for £1.8m.

On loan twice in 2016-17 at PSV and Jong PSV in 2017, he has never really been given a chance by City to showcase his talents.

Only 21, Zinchenko has been capped by Ukraine’s first team 17 times, scoring once.

But with the in-form Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva, there were not many opportunities for him to play in his natural position.

With City having left back problems — Benjamin Mendy suffering a season-ending injury as well as Danilo spending time on the treatment table — the naturally left footed Zinchenko was pushed into defence with little experience, although he played fairly well there.

A move to Wolves would be great for Zinchenko as now he will be able to get more game time in the top flight and the chance of being played in his natural position.

An excellent move for Zinchenko and Wolves which could be a mistake for City that could come back to haunt them.
