PALESTINIAN political prisoner Louay al-Ashqar ended his hunger strike in victory on Sunday, as campaigners said that the struggle against Israel’s brutal treatment of inmates must continue.
Mr al-Ashqar had refused food for 49 days, but suspended his protest after prison authorities agreed a date for his release.
He has been held on an administrative detention order — a draconian measure under which people can be detained indefinitely without charge or trial.
