IRELAND: Shamrock Rovers moved eight points clear in the League of Ireland this weekend after they won 3-1 at Cork City and Dundalk were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at St Patrick’s. Bohemians moved up to second place with a 2-0 win over ten-man Sligo, UCD properly thumped Waterford 4-1 and bottom club Finn Harps remain without a win after having Colm Deasy sent off in the 37th minute of their 3-2 defeat to Derry.

NORHTEN IRELAND: Linfield need just one point from their last four games to claim the Premiership title after Andrew Waterworth’s well-taken 46th minute strike sealed a 1-0 win at Ballymena. Reigning champions Crusaders lost 2-1 at Glenavon, Cliftonville beat Coleraine 4-2, Glentoran edged out Dungannon 2-1 and Institute beat Warrenpoint by the same score. Newry moved off the bottom with a 3-0 win over Ards.

SCOTLAND: Jamie Lindsay’s last minute equaliser helped table topping Ross County to a 1-1 draw against second-placed Dundee United and maintained their five point lead in the Scottish Championship. Inverness climbed into third after winning 1-0 in Ayr, Dunfermline drew 2-2 at Partick Thistle, Alloa breathed life into their relegation battle with a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Falkirk and Queen of the South’s game with Greenock Morton ended 1-1.
