THERE’S a lot to get excited about a theatrical staging of Cuban dance and music. Nothing could be quite so colourful in the mind’s eye. The bright lights of Havana’s nightlife, the vibrancy of its streets and in its multi-hued buildings, and mellow palm-lined beaches.
However in the mind’s eye it remains as this latest production from acclaimed Cuban choreographer Nilda Guerra, director of Havana-based dance group Ballet Rakatan, barely gets out of the airport waiting room.
