MEN’S CRICKET: England will be without Gus Atkinson when they begin their three-match 50-over series against the West Indies at Edgbaston on Thursday. 

The Surrey paceman damaged a hamstring in last week’s match against Zimbabwe but is expected to be fit for the Test series with India at the end of June. 

England are currently ranked as the world’s eighth-best one-day team, one place above the West Indies.

GYMNASTICS: Britain’s men won team gold at the European Artistic Gymnastic Championships in Leipzig on Wednesday, finishing just under two points ahead of Switzerland, with Italy in third. 

Italy’s women successfully defended the team title they won in Rimini last year with Germany second, France third and Britain sixth. 

Tomorrow’s schedule includes both men’s and women’s all-round finals before tomorrow’s individual apparatus medal events.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Joint bottom of the table Huddersfield host high-flying Leigh on Wednesday evening to kick off the latest round of Super League fixtures. 

Huddersfield have won just once in 12 matches and lost the reverse fixture 24-10 back in February. 

Table-topping Hull KR meet St Helens on Friday night with Warrington taking on Castleford and defending champions Wigan aiming to extend their seven-match winning run when they visit bottom club Salford.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Tyrese Haliburton top-scored with 32 points as Indiana beat the New York Knicks 130-121 on Wednesday morning to take a 3-1 lead in their seven-match NBA eastern conference final. They next meet in New York on Friday. 

Oklahoma City lead by the same score in the west as they head into this morning’s match with Minnesota after Shai Gilgeous-Alexander netted 40 points in their narrow 128-126 win.
