WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Three-time defending champions Gloucester-Hartpury suffered a shock 29-26 loss at home to Ealing in Sunday afternoon’s English Premiership play-off semi-final.
Ealing led 24-7 at half-time and held on to set up a Grand Final against last year’s runners-up Saracens, who needed Jess Breach’s late try to edge out Exeter 40-38 in their last-four clash.
Saracens finished 25 points ahead of Ealing during the regular season.
MEN’S CYCLING: Mexican Isaac del Toro produced a devastating ride on the upper slopes of the Plateau de Solaison to win the final stage at the eight-day Tour Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes and overturn a 49-second deficit to claim the general classification.
Previous leader Luke Tuckwell finished almost a minute back as runner-up with Juan Ayuso in third.
Ben Tulett was the highest-placed Briton, over 14 minutes off the pace in 17th.
MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Josh Charnley bagged a hat-trick to become the Super League’s all-time leading try-scorer as Leigh won 38-12 at Bradford on Sunday.
Charnley, who began his career at Wigan and also crossed codes for a spell in rugby union at Sale, has now scored 272 tries, one more than still active Leeds winger Ryan Hall.
Leigh are currently seventh in the Super League six points below table-topping Leeds.
DARTS: England’s top-seeded pair of Luke Littler and Luke Humphries beat second seeds Netherlands 10-5 in Sunday evening’s final to lift the World Cup in Frankfurt.
Despite having an inferior finishing percentage the English pair still scored at an average of almost 105.
Last year’s champions Northern Ireland lost out in the semi-finals to the Netherlands while the English saw off Scotland in their last-four clash.
