SECURITY guards of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan physically attacked and verbally threatened a Kurdish man at a hotel in London yesterday after he confronted him about attacks on Afrin.

The unidentified Kurdish man and his fiancee were having drinks at the same hotel Mr Erdogan, who is on a three-day visit to Britain, is staying at.

He claims that the guards called him a “dog” and accused him of being a terrorist.

Footage sent to the Star shows the guest approaching Mr Erdogan and calmly saying he would like to speak with him about what is happening in the Kurdish region of Syria.

“You need people from Afrin to speak with you,” he says. “There are terrible things going on.”

Mr Erdogan dismisses the man by walking away, with his officials telling the man to visit the Turkish embassy to talk to him.

Security forces pull the man away, who later alleged to the Star that he was slapped by a security guard during that time.

He said: “I asked Mr Erdogan to stop his army and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the betrayal of the Kurds.

“His response was ‘you are a PYD terrorist’ and I said: ‘No, I am a civilian and my people need to get back home’ and that we can’t stay under extreme FSA control.”

“He told me: ‘We are clearing Afrin from bombs and terrorists’.”

Another video shows the man being shoved out of the hotel and told by the security guards: “Shut your mouth, man. You dog. I will shut your mouth, I swear.”

It also shows the Metropolitan Police leading the man and his fiancee away while the security continue to follow them. They left in a taxi, after leaving their car behind.

Mr Erdogan is currently in London for a state visit and will be meeting Prime Minister Theresa May and the Queen today.

Human rights campaigners have scrutinised the president’s government over its attacks on Kurds, as well as journalists who are critical of it.

A presidential election will take place at the end of June that Turkish citizens abroad will also be able to take part in.

Anti-Erdogan demonstrators have been arranging protests outside his meetings for the past few days of his visit.Groups will gather outside Downing Street today at 10am calling on the British government to end its alliance with Mr Erdogan.
