NETBALL: Liv Tchine top-scored with 30 goals as defending champions London Pulse edged out Loughborough Lightning 60-56 in Saturday’s Super League preliminary final. London’s goal attack Sophie Kelly was player of the match. The Pulse will face regular season table-toppers Manchester Thunder in next week’s grand final. Manchester beat London 60-56 in last fortnight’s dress rehearsal major semi-final play-off match.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Player of the series Jalen Brunson netted a huge 45 points as the New York Knicks overcame a half-time deficit yet again to win 94-90 away at San Antonio Spurs to seal a 4-1 NBA Finals victory. The Knicks were behind by more than ten points in all five games on the way to claiming their first Larry O’Brien trophy since 1973. On a night of woeful shooting percentages from both teams, Dylan Harper netted 25 points for the Spurs.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Exeter will face Northampton in next week’s English Premiership grand final after they produced a dominant second-half performance to squeeze past defending champions Bath 27-26 on Saturday afternoon. Tom Litchfield scored a hat-trick of tries in Northampton’s 45-31 win over Leicester in the first semi-final. Exeter finished third during the regular season, nine points behind table-toppers Northampton.

SPEEDWAY: Peter Kildemand top-scored with 15 points from six rides as Berwick Bandits came from behind to beat Glasgow Tigers 46-44 in the Championship on Saturday evening. The Bandits only got their noses in front after heat 14 and secured a draw in heat 15 to hold on for their first league win of the season. Troy Batchelor bagged 14 points as Workington beat Oxford 48-42 in the weekend’s other Championship meeting.
