EU medicines agency approves first single-dose vaccine

THE first single-dose vaccine was approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) today, offering hope of speeding up the stalled vaccination rollout across the EU.

The regulator has approved the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine, which has already been approved in the United States. China has also approved a different single-dose vaccine.

The EU has struggled to roll out vaccination and immunise vulnerable citizens, with Britain and the United States making much faster progress.
