DELEGATES at Your Party Cymru’s inaugural conference at the weekend rose to give standing ovations to solidarity speeches about Latin America and Gaza.
Palestine Solidarity Campaign Cymru’s Bethan Sayed spoke movingly about the genocide in Gaza: “The people of Cymru have never sat in silence when war takes place.
“We’re living through 1,000 days of genocide — a deliberate, cold-blooded effort to erase the Palestinian people from their land.
“Stopping the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people is the moral issue of our time, and in Wales we must play our full part in campaigning to stop it.”
A panel on Latin American Resistance included the Cuban Embassy’s Pablo Ginarte, who said the session title was not just a description, but summarised the response to US President Donald Trump’s latest attack on Cuba.
“Trump has said that any country that supplies oil to Cuba will have sanctions imposed on them,” Mr Ginate said.
Venezuela Solidarity Campaigns Dr Francisco Dominguez said if the United States physically attacks Cuba, the world should organise international brigades to help the country defend itself.
